Residency visa/permit for family reunification

What is a residence permit for family reunification and who is eligible for it ?

A residence permit for family reunification gives right to family members (minors /spouse) of an expat who already hold a residency / citizenship in Georgia and who can be considered as a financier too!

Please see the document list that foreigners shall submit in order to receive this type of residence permit

  • A copy of the applicant's travel document (usually a valid passport).

  • A copy of a document verifying the applicant's legal stay in Georgia.

  • A document confirming the family relationship (e.g., marriage certificate or birth certificate, apostilled or legalized).

  • A document confirming legal income. Either the sponsor or applicant must demonstrate sufficient funds. Income may also include the amount deposited in the applicant's personal bank account. The amount should be no less than twice the average monthly subsistence minimum established in Georgia, considering the duration of the residence permit for family reunification purposes.

  • A 3×4 cm photo of the applicant (electronic format).

  • A receipt confirming payment of the service fee.

Duration

For the first time, it is issued for a period ranging from 6 months to 1 year. After that, the foreigner becomes eligible to apply for extensions of 2 years, 3 years, and beyond.

Can I be a sponsor for my spouse and minors?

Answer - Yes, you can. Your monthly wage must be at least double the amount of the minimum subsistence level for average consumers in Georgia.

My residence permit was issued for 6 months. Can I still file an application?

Answer - Technically, you can, but your family may face a refusal, as the term of stay is shorter than the minimum required.
